Kahana Reef has Quiet Oceanfront 1-Bedrooms with Direct Pacific Views
Kahana Reef sits directly above the ocean on Lower Honoapiʻilani Road in Kahana — the quieter, more residential stretch of West Maui between the Kaʻanapali resort row and Napili Bay.
The property is a small, low-rise complex with a wide oceanfront lawn, a swimming pool right at the water’s edge, and the channel between Maui and the neighboring islands of Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi laid out in front of every unit.
The setting is the selling point: this is a small, no-fuss property where the ocean is the main attraction and the resort itself stays out of the way.
The condos Maui Paradise Properties manages at Kahana Reef are 1-bedroom layouts sleeping two to four depending on the unit. MPP units have a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and oven, granite countertops in some units, a private furnished lanai with direct ocean views, indoor and outdoor dining areas, ceiling fans throughout, and flat-screen TVs. Bed configurations and exact furnishings vary by unit — the MPP team can match you to a layout that fits your group.
Two details to know before you book.
First, Kahana Reef condos do not have air conditioning. Cooling is by trade winds and ceiling fans, which is how the property has run for decades and how guests describe it working: open the lanai door, open the bedroom windows, and the trade winds run a steady cross-breeze through the unit.
Guests sensitive to heat or staying during the warmer interior months should factor this in.
Second, laundry is on-site coin-operated.
On the property side, you get the oceanfront swimming pool, an expansive oceanfront lawn with lounge chairs, outdoor gas BBQ grills, direct ocean access, elevators, and plenty of free on-site parking (no resort fee, no daily parking charge). The low-rise layout keeps the property feeling intimate rather than resort-busy.
For broader planning, our things to do in West Maui guide and the wider Maui Paradise Properties rentals page cover dining and day trips; the Kaʻanapali area page covers the resort-strip beaches a few minutes south.
Napili Bay snorkeling is a 5–10 minute drive north; Kapalua and Honolua Bay are a 10–15 minute drive further. Local Kahana standbys — Dollie’s Pub & Café, Miso Phat Sushi, Capt. Jack’s Island Grill, and Hawaiian Village Coffee — are within a couple of minutes.
During humpback whale season (December through April) the channel out front delivers some of the closest whale activity on this side of West Maui.
Every reservation booked direct with MPP Vacations at Kahana Reef includes free daily Xplorie activities and the MPP Starter Kit — toiletries, paper goods, beach chairs, towels, and a cooler ready for you on arrival.
